Right Fit

When Choosing a treatment provider, be sure to ask the following questions:

Programs:
What kind of programs are available? Are the programs flexible? How do clients move through phases of treatment? Are all the programs local or will clients need to travel out-of-area?

Clinical Practices:
Are evidence-based clinical practices used? Evidence-based clinical practices have proven through replicated research as having the greatest potential for success.

Flexibility and Family:
For some individuals, family involvement is an important part of the intervention process. For others, being removed from family works better. How the treatment provider views family involvement can be key in achieving a successful outcome.

Quality management:
How does the treatment provider manage the quality of treatment? Do they conduct regular clinical supervision of staff? Are clients encouraged to give honest feedback on the quality of her/his treatment? Are health and safety procedures well documented? Credentialing, What levels of education and clinical credentials have staff achieved?

12 Step Engagement:
Is there a close working relationship with a 12-Step program in the area? AA and NA have proven to have the highest documented outcome for continued recovery.

Cost:
What are the total costs associated with treatment? While its hard to put a price tag on something like recovery, the additional pressure of long term debt doesn't help. Find out what the costs are and also ask about scholarship programs and other ways to help defray the costs of treatment.
