Vivitrol Provider
BestCare Treatment Services is pleased to announce that its residential facility can now offer Vivitrol®, an injectable medicine proven to be effective for those who have stopped drinking, in conjunction with alcohol dependence treatment. Vivitrol® works by providing continuous levels of its active ingredient naltrexone that blocks activity in the brain’s reward system—the limbic system—thought to play a central role in alchohol dependence.
Many people dislike having to take a pill every day, or forget because of their lifestyle, and so they often stop taking their medication, therefore adding to the risk of a relapse. The once per month injection of Vivitrol® by BestCare’s Registered Nurse dissolves slowly throughout the month, releasing medicine every day. Most health insurance policies will likely cover Vivitrol® treatment. Additionally, Vivitrol® is not designed to make you feel sick if you take alcohol. For more information about alcohol dependency, Vivitrol®, or BestCare’s comprehensive treatment programs, contact Laura at our Redmond administrative office, 541-504-9577.
